Leading Virtual Teams self-study module
'Virtual' teams - separated by distance, time zones and cultures - require a new skill of international managers: the ability to lead remotely. Virtual team leaders need to ensure that team members based in multiple geographies maintain a shared vision, strategy and set of priorities, communicate clearly and inclusively, coordinate effectively, and above all feel ownership and commitment to their virtual team.

How long does it take to complete?
Users can complete all four sections of the module in one session (approximately one hour) or revisit at their convenience to complete different sections. Users can also revisit the module as often as they wish within a 12 month timescale to refresh and consolidate their learning.

Availability: the Leading Virtual Teams self-study module can be accessed on-demand 24/7 from any computer with an internet connection.
Interactivity: the module is split into four core sections. The first section examines the barriers to virtual team effectiveness and outlines a virtual leader’s key responsibilities. The second explains the six critical roles virtual leaders must play to achieve outstanding collaboration. The third provides best practice advice and strategies on a wide range of virtual performance areas. Finally the fourth section is a quiz to test learning achieved and to consolidate key learning takeaways.- Scenario-based learning: questions and scenarios are presented to the learner during the module to test knowledge, attitudes and response. In this way, practical learning is achieved based on incidents and scenarios that reflect the real global workplace.
- Interactive, user-friendly experience: the module incorporates voice commentary by a TMA World teamwork consultant, in addition to interactive functionality throughout the tool, to ensure learning is maximized through an engaging and enjoyable user experience.
- Global Readiness e-Portfolio: this module forms part of a series of online learning resources called the Global Readiness e-Portfolio. Users can complete other modules in the series depending on their individual learning needs, and so build the broader skills to be successful on the global stage.
